Hayworth College

Dear Hayworth Graduating Class of 2008,

We all are looking forward to the upcoming occasion of your Commencement. We know this is a special time for you, and we hope to make it an occasion to remember. Please see the schedule of events listed below and mark your calendar accordingly.

ATTENDANCE
Because Commencement events require careful planning, we need to have your attendance confirmed. If it is absolutely impossible for you to attend Rehearsal or Commencement, you must notify your dean's office, in writing, no later than April 18.

CLEARING YOUR ACCOUNT BY APRIL 18
Please be sure your student account balance is paid in full by April 18th if you wish to participate in graduation and/or receive your diploma. If you have any concerns or questions, please visit with your Student Financial Services counselor in Jernigan 111.

SPECIAL NEEDS
If you or anyone in your family requires special seating or parking for the disabled, for Baccalaureate and/or Commencement, please send written notice to: Campus Police Department, 1900 Selwyn Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28274, indicating your needs by April 18. Please be sure to provide your contact information.

ACADEMIC REGALIA
Cap and gown are required attire for Baccalaureate and Commencement. If you do not already have a cap & gown, you must order them from the Student Store (704 337-2413) by April 4. You may pick up caps and gowns at the Student Store anytime beginning April 22.

Appropriate attire with cap and gown recognizes tradition as well as warm weather. Women should wear a dark colored dress or skirt; men should wear dark trousers. Dark shoes are proper for all. No loud or large earrings or corsages pinned to the gown. There is a committee that will check for appropriate dress on graduation day. The committee members are authorized to remove inappropriately dressed graduates from the procession.

COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL
The Commencement rehearsal for each ceremony is listed below. The purpose of rehearsal is to familiarize you with procedures at Baccalaureate and Commencement. Please bring your cap with you to rehearsal so we can practice the "hooding" ceremony.

BACCALAUREATE
Baccalaureate is a multi-faith religious service of thanksgiving and celebration to honor the completion of a student's academic career and is historically attended by traditional-age college students completing an undergraduate degree, but ALL are welcome.

The Baccalaureate service is on Friday, May 2 at 4:00 pm across the street from Burwell Hall at Myers Park Baptist Church. Remember that caps and gowns are required attire.

PRESIDENT'S RECEPTION
Immediately following Baccalaureate (5pm), a reception will be held at the Trexler Student Center, for all graduates and their guests.
