North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grants
North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grants (NCLTG) are awarded to North Carolina residents pursuing their first undergraduate degree or seeking teacher education or nursing licensure. Funding is made available by the North Carolina General Assembly. The General Assembly also defines residency for grant eligibility. Currently the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grants are funded annually at $1,850 for full-time students and $1387 for 3/4-time students. Eligibility is based on the student’s enrollment status as of October 1st for the fall term and the 10th class day for the spring term. Eligible students who have completed 140 or more credit hours shall have their award reduced by twenty-five percent. A completed NCLTG application must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Services no later than October 1st for the fall term and the 10th class day for the spring term.

North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship
The North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship was created by the North Carolina General Assembly to provide financial assistance to needy North Carolina residents enrolled at least half-time as an undergraduate degree seeking student at an eligible college or university within the state of North Carolina. Students may apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submitting a completed NCLTG form to Queens University of Charlotte. Based on the FAFSA analysis, awards are determined by the state of North Carolina and will range from $100 to $3400 annually. Students who have earned a baccalaureate college degree are ineligible
North Carolina State Contractual Scholarship
North Carolina State Contractual Grants are funded by the North Carolina General Assembly. Awards are made to North Carolina residents pursuing their first bachelors degree, enrolled at least half-time and have demonstrated financial need. Annual awards vary depending on the student's need and available funding from the state of North Carolina. Students may apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) and the NCLTG form.
North Carolina Student Incentive Grant
The North Carolina Student Incentive Grant provides grants up to $700 per academic year for eligible students who are U.S. Citizens and North Carolina residents enrolled on a full-time basis pursuing their first bachelors degree. Recipients must demonstrate substantial financial need. Students may apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submitting it before the March 15th deadline; however, funds are typically exhausted by the end of February. Awards are determined by College Foundation, Inc.
North Carolina EARN
NC EARN was established by the 2007 North Carolina General Assembly to provide grants to eligible students to enable them to obtain an education beyond the high school level at community colleges and public universities in North Carolina without incurring student loans during the first two years of their postsecondary education. In 2008 the general Assembly expanded EARN funding to be available for eligible private college students. The maximum grant for which a student is eligible is $4,000 per academic year.
The state legislature has discontinued funding for this program effective spring term 2010.
North Carolina Nurse Scholars
The state of North Carolina awards annual scholarships to NC residents enrolled in a nursing program in preparation for licensure as a Registered Nurse. Awards to candidates in the Associate of Science program range up to $3,000. Awards to candidates in the Bachelor of Science program range up to $5,000. Service as a full-time registered nurse in NC upon graduation allows cancellation of the loan.
The Masters Nurse Scholars Program (M-NSP) is available to BSN prepared nurses pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing degree. Awards range up to $6,000 for full-time study and $3,000 for part-time study.

North Carolina Nurse Education Scholarship Loan
North Carolina Nurse Education Scholarship Loan are funded by the North Carolina General Assembly. NESLP awards depend upon the student's demonstrated financial need, cost of instruction, other financial assistance, and the amount of funding available through NESLP. For more information on the program, visit www.cfnc.org/paying/loan/career/career_nursing.jsp. The Office of Student Financial Services submits recommendations for student awards annually. State funding for this program is very limited.
North Carolina Prospective Teacher Scholarship/Loans
The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) awards annual scholarships to NC residents majoring in education. General information, eligibility requirements for new and renewal applicants, and application deadlines are available at www.CFNC.org/PTSL.
North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship
The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship is funded by the North Carolina General Assembly. Teaching Fellows are selected annually from NC High Schools and are applicable to four years of study. The current funding level provided by the state of North Carolin is $6,500.
