The university must make substantial financial commitments, arrange accommodations and transportation, and organize a multitude of other details well in advance of each program. It is therefore essential that students consider their plans seriously; random changes in individual plans may disrupt the plans of other students and could cause considerable damage to the programs.
To guarantee good faith and seriousness of purpose, each applicant will be liable for a $250 Belk Program deposit, which will be refunded after the successful completion of the program.
For students participating in a Spring or Summer program, $50 of the deposit is payable to Queens University of Charlotte at fall registration or in the Belk Office along with the signed contract for the program. Students will lose their place in the program if the $50 deposit is not paid by this date. The $200 balance of the deposit is due in the Belk Office in two payments of $100 each, as outlined in the contract.
For those programs with a program supplement, the charges will be due in the Belk Office on the same dates that payments are due for the deposit. Payments received after the deadlines will incur late charges. For students participating in a Winter Break study tour, $125 of the deposit is due at registration with the contract, with the $125 balance of the deposit due approximately 3 weeks later.
Six to eight weeks after a student participates in the international program, the Belk Program deposit is refunded to the student, less any charges incurred during the preparation course or study tour. A student who is officially enrolled in a Belk Program but fails to participate (for whatever reason) may forfeit the $250 deposit, and is liable for any additional non-recoverable expenses incurred by the university on his/her behalf.
Sophomores, part-time students, and Hayworth College students should submit their applications to the Belk Office as soon as possible during the application period. These applications will be considered on a space-available basis after the application deadline. An initial deposit of $400 must accompany each application.
All payments can be made in the Belk Office by cash, check, or credit card. Checks should be made payable to "Queens University of Charlotte."
