The Queens University of Charlotte office of Internships and Career Program has developed an alumni mentor program to assist students with their career development and to reconnect alumni to Queens. Mentors are encouraged to help promote the student’s personal development by providing knowledge, values, perspectives, networking and resource information.
Students benefit from the program by having the opportunity to interact with alumni who work in their field of study. Additionally, alumni mentors are able to relate real world experiences to the Queens experience and discuss qualities that make them successful in their chosen careers.
Mentors will be able to help their students by facilitating: • E-mail, phone discussions or in-person meetings regarding career related advice • Resume and cover letter critiques • Job shadowing or visits to job sites • Informal lunch or coffee meetings • Informal meetings at alumni events such as homecoming, alumni club events, sporting events and/or alumni/student receptions.
All alumni are invited to participate in this program. If you would like to register as a mentor, please sign up on eCampusRecruiter by clicking on Alumni/Mentors on the registration page (www.ecampusrecruiter.com/queens). Once you have registered, your name will be included in our database for students to search. Each mentor should complete the Online Orientation (should take about 20 minutes to complete) and read the Queens Alumni Mentoring Guidelines for Mentors before the initial meeting with a student. Students will contact you directly to request your assistance as a mentor. Contact Bill Means, 704-337-2374, once you have connected with a student to mentor.
If you are a current Queens student and would like to connect to an alumnus, please click on Student to register on eCampusRecruiter, www.ecampusrecruiter.com/queens, if you are not already registered. All Queens students must complete the Online Student Orientation (should take about 20 minutes to complete), read, print and sign the Student Guidelines on the Queens website and return it to the Blair House before contacting an alumni mentor in the eCampusRecruiter database. Complete and submit the Alumni Mentor Contact Form once you have confirmed a mentor.
