Legal Aspects of Nursing Documentation  **Please call 704.337.2491 for registration information

This seminar provides an in depth discussion of the most common sources of litigation for nurses. Learn how a court defines terms such as timely, chain of command, assessment /monitoring and “no change in condition.” Gain better insight into documentation strategies and techniques to help ensure that your documentation is legally defensible.

A mock trial is done allowing you to experience what it would be like to find yourself in the position of having to defend your documentation.

This seminar is an absolute must for all nurses documenting on a medical record. You are guaranteed to leave with a new perspective for the old saying “If you didn’t document it, you didn’t do it.”

Pam Collins has prepared written materials specifically for this seminar that will serve as an excellent guide and resource both during and after the seminar.

Pam’s medico-legal career began about 16 years ago and was prompted by her interest in facilitating safe clinical practice with an emphasis on nursing documentation. Her extensive experience with medical record review has afforded her the opportunity to see, first hand, the legal perils of nursing practice and documentation. In addition, Pam has taught on the legal aspects of nursing documentation for nearly 20 years and is an expert witness for medical malpractice cases.
