In the event of a power outage, the campus phone system will be restored through a generator. Please limit the use of phones so that lines are available for emergency calls.
In case of an emergency, please contact Campus Police at ext. 2911, or ext. 911, or 704 807-4019. A Campus Police Officer will make the necessary arrangements for fire, medical and/or police.
All meals will be in the Young Dining Room. Dining Services may serve meals on an abbreviated/limited schedule.
In case of a campus power outage, the staff will close all residence halls except Wireman Hall. Students will be moved from Albright, Barnhardt, Belk, Hayes and Wallace to Wireman Hall during daylight hours. If we are unable to determine with reasonable certainty when power will be restored, students will be informed that they may leave campus. Students are asked to checkout with a staff member leaving their destination and contact phone number.
Students that remain on campus will stay in South Hall; all staff will gather there and work with students to keep them informed and updated. Students can expect the following:
- Daily “Update” Meetings in Young Dining Room
- Meals in Young Dining Room
- Games, snacks and movies provided by the Student Activities staff
A Campus Police Officer is on duty 24 hours a day. The officer may be reached by dialing ext. 2306 from an on-campus phone, dialing the cell phone 704 807-4019 or stopping by the office on the first floor of the Stultz Building.
If the campus phones are out, call the cell phone first. Please do not call for updates. Reserve these numbers for only immediate assistance by campus police officers.
If classes are cancelled due to inclement weather, the campus will be in a State of Emergency and designated a “dry” campus. Beer, wine and liquor will be prohibited.
A Coordinator is on duty 24 hours a day. The Resident Assistant staff will always know how to contact the Coordinator. The Coordinator is able to contact the Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Students and the Director of Residence Life.
