Communication students are “always on.” Whether through cell phones, the Internet, or other kind of technology, our students are always connected to the global community. Students in the new School of Communication are on the cutting edge of technological exploration through a variety of technology used inside and alongside classroom experiences.
In addition to the Knight-Crane Convergence Lab, our students benefit from several facilities to produce documents in a variety of media forms:
- The Green Room - Located in the Dana Lower Level, the green Key Wall is similar to what weathermen use to display the forecast . The room can be digitally changed to any background and is useful for several Communication projects. The room also contains a soundboard and video camera for a professional-quality product.
- The Media and Technology Center – Also located in Dana Lower Level, this lab includes several Mac computers for more high-tech editing of projects as well as PCs for more traditional uses. This lab is open into the early evenings for student access.
- Studio Cameras – Three mobile studio cameras can be signed out by Communication majors for projects that cannot be done in the Green Room.
- Editing and Production Lab - Similar to the Green Room but without the key wall, this laboratory includes a soundboard, a computer, and a television for production and editing purposes. This lab can also be used in conjunction with events in the Knight-Crane Convergence Lab.
Dr. James Neale, the Director of Media and Learning Technology, manages all of the School of Communication technology and is available for contact at nealej@queens.edu.
