Queens has numerous measures in place to try to protect everyone's health including: vaccine clinics every weekday at the Student Health and Wellness Center, hand sanitizer stations across campus, and regular meetings of the Pandemic Flu Response Committee.
Since classes began in August, more than 100 members of the campus community have reported flu-like illness to the Student Health and Wellness Center. More than 325 students have received the H1N1 flu vaccine. Updated statistics and other new developments are posted every Monday on the Queens homepage.
General information about H1N1 and the vaccine is available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Web site.
The Student Health & Wellness Center is in touch with the Mecklenburg County Health Department for weekly updates on protocols related to prevention and treatment. Additionally, our faculty and staff have received training in how to recognize and report flu-like symptoms.
Members of the campus community who are experiencing multiple flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, chills or fatigue should take the following action:
- Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Call the Health and Wellness Center, 704-337-2220.
