A thoughtful study of a complex world
At Hayworth College, the Religion major offers students an opportunity to explore how and why people search for meaning in life. The discussion-based classes, led by passionate faculty members, examine broad questions about the significance, relevance and consequences of religious traditions and belief systems in a complicated multicultural world.
The focus on the world’s religions not only raises students’ awareness of the differences and similarities in choices that people and societies make, but the studies also provide a framework for developing a strong personal credo.
Broad opportunities for the Religion major
Because of the emphasis on critical thinking, problem solving, communications skills and the strong ethical component of the course work, graduates discover that their career options are virtually unlimited. Many students have gone into the human rights field, non-profit leadership and the Peace Corps as well as graduate school in a number of disciplines. Some find work in Human Resources and in medical settings, like hospitals, dealing with medical ethics. A number of students are inspired by their Hayworth experience to continue their studies in seminary.
A meaningful experience
Students are guided through the studies by a diverse group of active scholars whose passion for discovering meaning in life is energizing and exciting.
The faculty and staff care about learning and their students. They understand and appreciate the challenges faced by adult learners. The department keeps flexible hours to meet the need of the evening students.
The Religion major at Hayworth College gives students the opportunity to learn, grow and discover how to live a meaningful life.
