Week of Service Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Queens University of Charlotte motto “not to be served, but to serve” rings true when reflecting on the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. This week, the Queens community will come together in service and fellowship to commemorate the January 16 federal holiday.

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement (DICE) will host events for students, staff, faculty, and friends of the Queens community.

January 9 – January 16

  • Food Drive: Donation boxes are located inside the DICE Lounge (Dana 014) and Belk Chapel. All donations will be delivered to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

January 10

  • MLK Kick Off: Join the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.in the Trexler courtyard for trivia, prizes, and more.

January 11

  • Serving Opportunities: Volunteer at Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or Promising Pages from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

January 12

  • Serving Opportunities: Volunteer with Crisis Assistance Ministry from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

January 13

  • Serving Opportunities: Volunteer with Habitat Restore from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or volunteer on campus from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

January 15

  • 2023 Atrium Health Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday March: Meet at the intersection of Tryon and Phifer St at 2:00 p.m.
