Step One: Submit Your Application
Your future starts here—and applying is easier than you think. Whether you choose the Queens Application or the Common App, both are treated equally and completely free to submit, so go with whatever feels right for you.
Applying to our BSN or ABSN program? Be sure to use the Queens Application for nursing-specific requirements.
1. Submit Your Secondary School (High School) Transcript
Ask your school to send your official transcript to Queens. The transcript must be translated into English.
How to translate your transcript: The translation must be done by a school official or a certified translation service. Accepted services include:
2. Submit standardized English Proficiency Test Scores
One of the following test scores is required to meet Queens University’s English proficiency standard:
You do not need to submit a test score if:

- You have completed a U.S.-based high school diploma program, in English, with at least one full academic year of non-ESL coursework.
- You have completed Level 112 at an ELS Language Center in the United States.
Note: International first-year applicants who have completed a diploma program with a minimum of one academic year, in English, at a US-based high school, in all non-ESL classes are exempt from these testing requirements. In addition, any student who has successfully completed level 112 of the ELS Language Centers English program is exempt from meeting the minimum testing requirements to demonstrate proficiency in the English language.

Students interested in the Music or Music Therapy program should first apply to Queens, then complete the required audition as part of the admission process — a fall audition is recommended if possible.
To be considered for the Direct Admit program, incoming students must:

- Have graduated from high school within 12 months prior to enrolling at Queens
- Submit an SAT of 1100 or greater or an ACT of 22 or greater taken within the last five years, or the TEAS exam with a passing grade of 65 or higher taken within the last two years.
- Have a 3.5 unweighted core GPA
If you would like to be considered for this program, be sure to select “Nursing (Pre-Licensure)” as your intended major when completing the Queens Application or Common App.
Once admitted, the students will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete all coursework at Queens University. Your academic advisor will guide you every step of the way.
Priority Deadline for the Direct Admit program is November 15.
To be considered for the ABSN program, students must have:

- A bachelor’s degree
- A TEAS exam with a passing grade of 65 or higher
- A 3.0 or higher GPA in their most recent 3 semesters, or 30 credit hours (whichever is greater)
- A 3.0 or higher GPA in the eight prerequisite courses the university requires:
- Microbiology with lab
- Human Anatomy & Physiology 1 with lab
- Human Anatomy & Physiology 2 with lab
- General Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Nutrition
- Introductory Statistics of Social Sciences
- Institution and Society

Queens wants to see you as a whole person, not just numbers on a page. So, we’re asking you – what else do you think is important to share with us that will tell the whole story of you?
Official SAT or ACT Scores
Queens University of Charlotte is permanently an ACT and SAT test-optional college. We care deeply about what you are doing each day in your community. Your application will be complete and fully considered whether you send us scores or not.
The only exception for using test scores for admission is our BSN Direct Admit option. Please check the BSN Direct Admit section in Step One for details.
If you want to complete your application without test scores, make sure to select “no” under Testing plan. If you forget or change your mind later, contact your admission counselor, who can update that for you.
If you want to complete your application with test scores, send us a PDF of your score report to admissions@queens.edu or have the testing agency send your scores directly to Queens using these codes:

Letters of Recommendation
Do you work with a teacher, school counselor, or community leader who knows you really well? If you do, we’d love to hear from them through a letter of recommendation.
Interviews
Interviews are a great way for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. We want to meet you and to put a face with a name.
