Are you a high school or college student ready to take the first step toward a rewarding career in nursing? Queens University’s Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is for you. Nursing courses begin each fall, giving you a structured and immersive learning experience. If you’re earning your first degree, you’ll need to complete additional courses to meet university graduation requirements—but you’ll have the support and guidance to navigate your path with confidence.

Find Your Path to a BSN

Ready to turn your passion for healthcare into a career? Queens University offers multiple paths to earning your BSN to meet you where you’re at.

  • First-Year (Pre-Nursing) – Start as a first-year student, complete foundational coursework, and apply to the upper division nursing program in your sophomore year.
  • First-Year Direct Admit (Upper Division Nursing) – Some first-year students may qualify for direct admission into the upper-division nursing program.
  • Transfer Students – If you’re joining Queens from another institution, you can apply to the nursing program once you’ve completed the necessary prerequisites.

No matter which path you take, you’ll get hands-on experience, expert support, and the confidence to launch your nursing career.

Eligibility Requirements

First Year Applicants for Upper Division Nursing

Students interested in direct admission can apply as normal through the Queens website or Common App, but will need:

  • To submit an SAT of 1100 or greater or an ACT of 22 or greater taken within the last five years, or the TEAS exam with a passing grade of 65 or higher taken within the last two years.
  • A 3.5 unweighted core GPA

Transfer BSN

Students interested in transferring to Queens can apply through the Queens website or the Common App, and will need:

  • At least 45 credit hours completed towards their degree
  • A 3.0 or higher GPA in their most recent 3 semesters, or 30 credit hours (whichever is greater)
  • Outstanding eight prerequisites with a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • SAT of 1100 or greater or an ACT of 22 or greater taken within the last five years, or the TEAS exam with a passing grade of 65 or higher taken within the last two years.

Students can have two prerequisite courses in progress when applying to transfer, but they must be completed before the start of the program. Please note that both in-progress courses cannot be science classes, and you will need to submit proof of in-progress courses.

Application Dates

Getting into the BSN program is competitive, so timing is everything. When the application window opens, you’ll submit one streamlined application for both the university and the nursing program. To stay ahead, make sure all materials—including transcripts from every school you’ve attended—are in before the deadline.

Pro tip: Don’t wait until the last minute! Submitting your application early gives you time to double-check that everything’s complete. Only fully submitted applications will be reviewed, and you’ll hear back within six weeks after the deadline.
