Vivaldi Re-Imagined: The Four Seasons in Music and Verse

Join us for an extraordinary evening where classical music meets contemporary poetry, presented by the Charlotte Symphony in collaboration with the English students and faculty of Queens University of Charlotte. This unique event re-imagines Vivaldi’s timeless masterpiece, “The Four Seasons,” through a fusion of captivating music and inspiring verse.

Program Partners: Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Arts @ Queens, Queens University’s English Department, and the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement.

Music and Mind

A leading advocate for the study of the powerful connections between the arts and health, Renée Fleming has created a presentation called Music and Mind, in which she invites leading local neuroscientists, researchers, physicians, music therapists, educators, and universities to discuss their work at the intersection of music, neuroscience, and healthcare.

On September 21, Ms. Fleming will be joined by the President and CEO of Atrium Health, Eugene Woods; President of Neuroscience Institute at Atrium Health, Anthony L. Asher; Vice Provost for the Arts and Interdisciplinary Initiatives at Wake Forest University, Christina Soriano; and Senior Instructor, Art, Design & Music Department at Queens University, Meg Stanley Johnson. Additional panelists will be announced at a later date.

Legacy Concert: Dett & Bernstein

Celebrating over seven decades of performing choral-orchestral masterworks, the Charlotte Master Chorale’s annual Legacy Concert this year features Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and the North Carolina premiere of R. Nathaniel Dett’s long-neglected oratorio The Ordering of Moses, which builds on the spiritual “Go Down, Moses” to portray the liberation of the Hebrews from bondage in Egypt.

These concerts are presented in partnership with the Gambrell Center, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and collegiate singers from Queens University, UNCC, and Johnson C. Smith University.

It is made possible, in part, with funding from ASC and the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources, and the Sally Ann and Joe Hall Fund of the Charlotte Symphony’s Endowment.
