Biography

Erin DeBell’s graduate thesis in the Spanish Translating and Translation Studies program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte discusses social media marketing in a multilingual context and focuses on the use of social networking sites as a cross-cultural marketing tool. She has a background in foreign language education as well as a certificate in business Spanish.

DeBell has lived in Ecuador and Colombia and studied at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador in Quito. She served as an intern at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse and is qualified as a level C court interpreter with the North Carolina AOC. She is now pursuing level A certification.

Her work in transcription and translation includes a Spanish-English transcription for a federal criminal investigation as well as a wide variety of other projects. DeBell co-presented on “Methodology in Translation Standards and Assessment” at the 23rd Annual CATI Conference.

DeBell enjoys teaching Spanish for specific professions and believes that knowledge of a foreign language serves a practical role in today’s society in both personal and professional endeavors.
