What You’ll Study
Are you an artist looking to hone your craft at the college level? As a studio art major at Queens, you will grow your artistic abilities by generating ideas, developing concepts and techniques, and presenting through a hands-on approach in the studio. You will become well-versed in creative and critical thinking while also learning to work within different art mediums such as paint, clay, fabric, and much more.

Studio art majors also have opportunities for internships and hands-on experiences with more than 30 art museums and galleries in the Charlotte area. Our well-connected faculty introduces students to the many local art organizations such as museums, galleries, and art-related businesses like advertising firms and the Arts & Science Council. Apprenticeships with local artists and conservators are also available.
Studio art majors can also double-major in arts leadership & management, broadening their skill base and marketability. Queens understands the importance of having the freedom to perfect your craft, so we invite our art students to take advantage of having 24-hour access to studio space.

Student Highlights
“Without the studio art major at Queens, I don’t think I would have discovered my passion and decided to pursue a master’s program. I am now a graduate student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA studying Marital and Family Therapy with a deep concentration in Art Therapy.”
