Biography

Robert Teixeira joined faculty as primary guitar instructor at Queens in 2001. He teaches Applied Guitar (private instruction), Guitar Seminar, Guitar Pedagogy, Guitar Literature, Guitar Ensemble and all guitar-related coursework for Music Therapy majors.

In addition to his duties at Queens, he is active as a performer and guest lecturer with recent invitations to instruct/perform at East Carolina University, Universities of Texas at Austin and San Antonio, Southwestern University, Wofford College, Furman University and Florida State University.

In recent years, Teixeira has collaborated with award-winning guitarist, Mary Akerman in concert appearances and in the 2010 cd release of Music for Two Guitars. Other recordings include Shade Grown with his wife, cellist, Tanja Bechtler, founder of the Bechtler Ensemble and Passage with the seven-member world music ensemble, Without Borders. In addition to his teaching and performing schedule, Teixeira has compositions and pedagogical works published by Clear Note Publications.
