Community
We like to be good neighbors.
At Queens, we pride ourselves on being active and engaged in our community. When we see an opportunity to support the people of Charlotte, we seize it. Here are just a few of the resources we have available not only to students but to the Charlotte community.
Gambrell Center
This 63,000-square-foot building was recently renovated with all new equipment. It features an auditorium that seats more than 1,000 and regularly hosts international artists. Along with our student-run events, our Arts at Queens series offers a diverse range of visual, literary, and performing arts programming.
Learning Society
Essentially Queens’ version of a TED Talk. Starting in 1988, world-renowned journalists, authors, physicians, scientists, artists, politicians, and more have gathered here to share their knowledge with students and the Charlotte community. Previous speakers include acclaimed physician and author Mark Hyman as well as Lisa Genova, neuroscientist and author of the New York Times best-selling novel “Still Alice.”
Friends of the Library
Founded in 1971 on the premise of providing support and resources to the Everett Library, Friends of the Library is an organization dedicated to providing social and literary events to Royals and the greater Charlotte community through book and author events, social and cultural gatherings, book clubs and fundraising.
Entrepreneurial Leadership Circle
This collaboration between Royals and community members has forged countless connections and networking opportunities that benefit students interested in business and Charlotte at large.
Innovation recognizes innovation.
We’ve worked hard to develop and maintain long-lasting relationships with creative leaders in Charlotte’s top industries. Every now and then, we like to recognize these important relationships and the people we’ve fostered them with through celebration. Check out some of the events we host to honor leaders in the Charlotte region.
Charlotte BusinessWoman of the Year
An event we’ve been hosting for 35 years that celebrates the accomplishments, contributions, and impact of businesswomen in the Charlotte community.
Billy O. Wireman Golf Tournament
Named after our former Queens president from 1978 to 2002, this tournament honors his legacy by raising scholarship money for the McColl School Excellence Fund, supporting merit and need-based scholarships, programmatic offerings, and faculty development.
Carolinas Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame
This event is designed to honor the individuals whose legacies still shape today’s business and economy throughout the Carolinas and beyond.
