Building Community

Queens University of Charlotte is a small campus where our relationships—with our students and our colleagues—shape our individual and collective experience of community. We aspire to be a place where faculty and staff feel seen, heard, supported, and valued for what they do and for who they are. As part of our efforts to support community building and belonging, we have established several Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to provide opportunities for faculty and staff to connect informally, explore ways to foster more equitable and affirming workplace experiences, discuss professional development topics they would like to see offered, and/or identify ways to engage with the broader Charlotte community. Each ERG seeks to be responsive to the interests and needs of its membership, so meetings and events vary accordingly.

The following are the ERGs currently active at Queens:

BIPOC

The mission of the BIPOC ERG is to foster networking, professional development, mentoring, leadership, and engagement opportunities with a focus on the recruitment, retention, learning, and advancement of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color at Queens.

Queer & Questioning

The mission of the Queer & Questioning ERG is to develop a visible community of LGBTQIA+ people on campus and advocate for supportive resources. We aim to be recognizable to our campus community as a welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ employees, provide both fellowship and advocacy for needed support, and have consistent representation in conversations among Queens leadership.

Young Professionals

The mission of the Young Professionals ERG is to give a voice to the young professional demographic at Queens and to provide opportunities for personal and professional development to its members.

If you are a new faculty or staff member who would like more information about or would like to join any of the ERGs listed below, please reach out to Renee Wells, Chief Diversity Officer (wellsr@queens.edu).
