Students should also think about what else can be done to lower their costs to go to college. If your financial aid package doesn’t cover the costs you need it to, there are other possible options to pay for the remaining costs.
Federal Work-Study
Federal Work-Study is another way to offset some unmet needs. Work-study is paid employment offered by the university to the student. The student typically receives this aid in the form of a paycheck, just like any other job. It’s not automatically deducted from tuition.
Outside Scholarships
Outside scholarships are an excellent way to decrease your out-of-pocket cost or loan debt. Students can apply for these scholarships completely outside of the college application and merit scholarship process. There are numerous sources of outside scholarships.
Parents PLUS Loan
Parents can also apply for a Parent PLUS Loan to cover the remaining costs of attendance after all other aid.
