Financial Aid Checklist – Undergraduate Students

For Full-Time, Traditional Undergraduate Students

Please complete the following steps to ensure you are financially on track to begin a successful academic year at Queens.

  1. If you have not already done so, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. Queens school code is 002957.
    • If you are not eligible to submit the FAFSA, you can submit the Household Resources Form to Queens. Please connect with your admissions counselor for details. This doesn’t apply to international students.
  2. If you have been selected for Verification, submit your Verification Worksheet and supporting documents as soon as possible.
  3. If you are a resident of North Carolina, complete the North Carolina Residency Determination Service (RDS) process in order to establish your resident-status eligibility for North Carolina aid.
  4. Financial Aid notices will be emailed to you. After you receive your financial aid notice and login credentials, students can log into the myFinancialAid portal to accept or decline your eligible loan funds.
  5. In order to take advantage of Federal Direct Loans, first-time borrowers must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) on the Federal Student Aid website.
  6. Notify the Office of Financial Aid of any outside scholarships you are receiving from institutions other than Queens.
  7. Parents of dependent students can also complete the Direct Parent PLUS Loan process.
  8. Complete your Cash Management form. All students wishing to use financial aid to cover discretionary charges such as student health insurance, bookstore charges or fines must complete this form.
  9. Complete your Financial Services Access Code form. All students must complete this form if they wish to discuss financial aid or account information via telephone or email. Parents or other third parties of dependent students who inquire about financial aid or student account information will be asked to provide this code.
  10. Take care of your net balance after financial aid. Due dates are:

Fall – August 1

Spring – January 6

Summer – May 1

  • Pay in Full: Payments can be made through MyAccount. Queens University of Charlotte accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and E-check. Students can set up a “Parent Pin” on MyAccount for parents or other third-party payers via the “Student Account” link. Simply select “Make a Payment Online” and select “add new”.
