Housing Applications open Wednesday, November 6 on your Self-Service website under “Applications & Forms”.

Housing Steps

1. Complete your Housing Application.
2. Room Selection Opens Monday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m. EST. This is a self-selection process that each student is responsible for, any changes must be requested via email to ResLife.
3. Once you’ve selected a room, you can proceed with selecting a meal plan. Meal plans are required for students who live on campus. You can make up to one change for your meal plan selection on your self-service until Wednesday, November 27, any changes beyond this date must be requested via email to ResLife.
4. Room Selection Closes Wednesday, January 1 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Student who need housing beyond this point must contact ResLife directly.
5. Spring Student Move In will be offered Friday, January 3 & Saturday, January 4. Additional details to come!
   *This process is ongoing and spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis.*

Traditional Undergraduate students that do not live within an approved commutable distance with a legal parent/guardian are required to live on campus. Students that are transfers, seeking a graduate degree, or 24 years old and up are not required to live on campus. Please review our Residency Requirements for additional details.

• Students that do not meet the Residency Requirements eligibility should not sign a lease elsewhere or plan to live off-campus before receiving an official release from Residence Life & Housing.
• When you sign your Residential Housing Contract with us, you are agreeing to the residential expectations in the Contract, Queens Honor Code, and Residential Life Policies & Procedures. Because these standards provide the backbone of our community philosophies, and because you will be held accountable to them, we encourage you to thoughtfully and thoroughly review them.
• You should familiarize yourself with our Room Availability and have alternate plans if your group’s first choice is not available.
• Residence Halls: Students will be housed generally as follows in the residence halls:
  • First-Years: Albright, Barnhardt, Belk, and Hayes (Honors Building)
  • Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors: Hall Brown Overcash (HBO), Wireman, Byrum, and Northwest
  • Honors Students: Hayes (Students must opt-in to live in Hayes.)

Students with Accessibility Needs

The University provides accessible housing and access to participate in all the benefits of university life under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and ADA legislation. Students who require housing accommodations must self-identify and request accommodations through the Office of Student Accessibility Services (sashelp@queens.edu).

Students requesting accommodations need to contact us by email no later than March 1 (current returning students) or June 1 (new/transfer students) for approved medical accommodations. Students approved for medical accommodations after these deadlines will be placed into housing assignments based on availability by Residence Life & Housing.

Gender Inclusive Housing

In an effort to meet the needs of transgender, gender non-conforming students, their allies, and students who may feel more comfortable or safe with suitemates of different gender identifications, Residence Life & Housing offers intentionally gender-inclusive housing in suite-style halls. While roommates must be of the same gender identification, suitemates may be of different gender identities. As with all housing, gender-inclusive housing is not intended for romantic cohabitation.
