Hillel

Welcome to Hillel at Queens University of Charlotte!

Hillel Your Way!

Queens University provides many opportunities for growth to its students. Students get exposed to various beliefs, backgrounds, and perspectives while on campus. The campus may be small but it has a wide range of backgrounds.

The amount of diversity on campus makes Queens a great place for young Jewish adults to explore what Judaism and being Jewish means to them.

They can also mold their Hillel experience to be unique to them because the size of the campus allows us to be more readily flexible to students’ interests.

Holidays with Hillel

Passover

The Director of Hillel & Jewish Life with help from the Campus Rabbi runs a campus Passover seder as well as helps students find seders within the greater community.

Chanukah

The Hillel runs a campus-wide Hanukkah party at the end of the Fall semester where a large Hanukkiah mural is painted every year. There is usually a theme selected by students.

Shabbat

Once a month Hillel hosts a Shabbat dinner on campus to welcome in Shabbat as a group and reflect on the previous week and the future week.

High Holy Days (Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur)

Our Hillel family hosts services and meals on campus. The Hillel faculty also works together to get students tickets for services in the greater Charlotte community.

  • Temple Beth El – Reform
  • Temple Israel – Conservative
  • Chabad – Orthodox

We assist students in finding services and community breakfasts along with hosting our breakfast for all students looking for a service or breakfast for the High Holidays.

Everyday

Beyond holidays, Hillel is present for the everyday moments. From monthly Mimi’s Matzo Ball Soup giveaways to Roz Greenspon and Marty Birnbaum’s Hillel Challah giveaways to our annual Soul Food Shabbat – our Queens Hillel is a dynamic part of the Queens campus.
