Families & Guests
Why should I attend ROAR with my student?
We encourage our families and guests of new students, especially first-year students, to attend ROAR. While your student is learning about being a Queens student, you’ll learn about being a parent to a Queens student. Our faculty, administrators, and staff will be at ROAR so you can meet the people who will be working with your student during college. It’s a great time to get those “last-minute” questions answered, experience our beautiful campus, and help your student prepare to join the Queens family.
I can’t attend ROAR with my student. Will there be someone to help them?
We will have numerous faculty, staff, administrators, and current students assisting new students during ROAR. Families and guests are encouraged to attend ROAR, but if a student needs to attend alone, we will be available to help them guide students to sessions and participate in events.
What are the overnight lodging options for families/guests?
Families and guests will need to find their own lodging. Queens partners with local hotels to be the preferred hosts of the Royals. You can also receive a special Queens rate while staying in these hotels.
What should I do if either I or my student aren’t feeling well on the day of our scheduled ROAR session?
If your student isn’t feeling well on the day of their ROAR session, please have them stay home and contact us at QUROAR@queens.edu. We will follow up with them regarding any next steps or adjustments needed to reschedule their orientation session.
If you are not feeling well and are registered to attend with your student, you can either have your student attend by themselves (if feasible), or contact us at QUROAR@queens.edu to determine the next steps and reschedule your student’s orientation session.
