I am deeply passionate about Time Out Youth, an organization that supports LGBTQ+ youth by providing resources, advocacy, and a safe space to be themselves. Their mission resonates with me personally because I understand how powerful community and acceptance can be to those struggling to find themselves, and working to provide that sense of community is truly life-changing.

I recently learned about the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy and how they help a variety of communities who cannot afford legal services, but desperately need them. They take on a variety of cases from healthcare coverage issues, to homeowners facing foreclosure but i resonate with this non profit because of there help with the immigrant community. They are the largest non-profit provider of representation in the Charlotte immigration court in all of North and South Carolina.

As a Chi Omega and former philanthropy chair, I am especially passionate about the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Critical illness in childhood is something no one should have to experience, and the work that they do with Wish Kids makes it just a little easier to endure. Every child deserves to be a kid, regardless of their circumstances. I have always believed that joy is the best medicine, and Make-A-Wish helps to provide that.

I am passionate about the Charlotte Rescue Mission, especially their Dove’s Nest program. This resonates with me personally because their approach to battling addiction is not just a program focused on getting sober. Charlotte Rescue Mission approaches addiction and the experiences that often pair with it in a way that I view as holistic.

By providing addiction treatment programs, access to affordable housing, continuing sobriety programs, life skills training programs, assisting with access to education, and the option for mothers to have their children with them during the recovery program, Charlotte Rescue Mission does more than encouraging short-tern sobriety, and I think its an approach that addresses the complex challenge of addiction.

My experience with Camp Quality New Jersey has really impacted me because I have seen first-hand how this camp has an effect on these kids’ lives and having a childhood throughout their cancer treatment.

I am extremely passionate about Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Not only is this Phi Mu’s philanthropy, it also has a deep impact on me. My freshman year at Queens, I met one of my best friends at Queens. As I got closer with her, she shared with me how she survived stage three osteosarcoma at the age of eighteen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She was on the brink of death and had many scares but after a complete leg reconstruction as well as many rounds of chemotherapy, she was cancer free. Her treatment was done at Levine Children’s Hospital which is a part of the Children’s Miracle Network. Without CMN Hospitals care, I would not have one of my best friends here beside me.

The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation is a cause that holds a special place in my heart. A close family friend has been deeply affected by this disease, and witnessing how it has impacted their daily life has been eye-opening and humbling. It’s one thing to hear about an illness, but it’s another to see someone you care about navigate its challenges with courage and determination.

This experience has inspired me to support the foundation’s mission in any way I can. In my opinion, simply raising awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis is a gift in itself. My involvement with the foundation has taught me how meaningful even small actions can be when they’re driven by compassion and a desire to help.
